I've been playing the Demos on the October Edition of OPM...

L.A. Rush isn't looking to good... Plays more like the Cruisin Series to be honest. Not Like USA the good one more like world which wasn't anywhere near as good. The Cinema Jumps suck. The crashes are the worst though, or lack of them. There seems to be an exact speed limit for when you crash or you lose all forward momentum. Either way you are screwed.

It happens in all racing games, moving along and BAM you're stock still. You laugh it off and curse as you frantically try to remember how to use the reverse button. Now imagine that happening five or more times per race. Not just walls though this also happens in headons. Other car goes flying and you just sit there. If you do actually manage to crash you are treated to an unskippable 10 second cinema scene, 4 of which involve standing stock still.

When You finally manage to get your car a foot off the ground (much harder than it should be in a rush game) you are treated to a weird camera angle of your car flying through the air. Not that fun the first time, certainly not cool when you repeat the course. Hopefully you will be able to turn it off.

Hopefully this will fixed before they go gold but I doubt it since the release date is so close.

Burnout Revenge felt even more like Sanfrancisco Rush. It was amazingly fun and I'll have to pick it up on the 13.

I always thought it was an exaggeration when people talked about being dumbsruck after seeing something. I was proven wrong today. I was walking through the Bellevue Square Mall Today( because it was bloody hot outside) when these late teens early twenties girls walk by. Being a guy I notice them. Then my brain shut down for approximately five seconds. The skirt was white. I don't know if it was the lighting or if it was on purpose but the knee length skirt was translucent and the thong was stringy and black. I think I noticed her head first but those thoughts succumbed to the thong. I finally snapped out of it once they wen't around the corner...

We also bought some stuff at the Art Festival but that was the highlight of my day.

So I got an Electric Blue DS+Mario DS for 130 which was awesome. I also picked up Meteos for 18. Also got the obligatory Nintendo swag. Didn't have any new DK stuff unfortunately but they did have 1UP boxers for half the store price!

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned why I don't like the PSP but I'll reiterate. Load Times are stupid and I loathe memory sticks. That and its just a ps1 1/2. Not that that's a bad thing mind you, it's just not what I want in a portable.

Meteos Rocks. Literally. Okay fine technically they are explosive asteroids made out of the material Meteos sprung from the Planet Meteos bent on destroying the universe...

But it's a puzzle game and puzzle games need no plot. Connect similarly colored bricks together and remove them from the screen before they overflow the screen.

Sounds boring but its really bloody fun. It's even better when you have a four player game going. Pure bliss.

I've been at the Digipen Programming Level 3 Summer Workshop since last Monday. It was harder than Level 2.

So to start out... No cute girl like last year. Made some new friends. Got a DS at the Nintendo store. Learned the intricacies of ctrl-C and ctrl-v. learned that i hate capitalization while coding stuff. Discovered that the controls for Tetris Worlds for the Gamecube SUCK. Also got gipped on the SSBM tournament. Found out you can run Windows XP in a old Toshiba Pentium 1 ToughBook. 65% percent of the Junior workshop kids are immature little brats.

It seems oxymoronic but it helps if you have prior programming experience. I didn't. The students also tell you this if you ask them about prep for the first year.
I made a 3D pong clone this time. We had to use an engine that was similar to Wolfenstein-3D. It was fun for the most part.

The prepaid lunch was still hit or miss. Wouldn't have recommended chili if you are going to have a bunch of guys locked in a room for the next seven hours. The famous strawberry biscuit from last year didn't make an appearance thankfully. (Funny just checked archives and I never mentioned them. The name speaks for itself...)

They might have been congratulated for their "green" efforts in an area of heavy air pollution.

Instead a group of French cleaning ladies who organised a car-sharing scheme to get to work are being taken to court by a coach company which accuses them of "an act of unfair and parasitical competition".

Direcway Sucks...
So I don't have an Internet Connection... No thanks to Direcway. We upgraded from the DW4000 Modem to the new DW6000 modem. Basically the DW6000 works like a regular Cable modem, you hook it to the component cable and turn it on and it works. The DW4000 required you to install modem software on your comp and it had to run the software so I guess the 4000 was just a fancy switch & signal converter...

We were upgrading because its a bloody turd to share an Internet connection over a windows box to more than one other computer.

So we order the 6000 on Thursday the 12th and receive it Tuesday the 17th. I wait until the end of the day to hook up the modem. Finally its five o' clock and I can unplug the network. Uninstalling of the old software and removal of the modem ensues. In case you are wondering once you remove the old software you can't use the 4000 again.

So I get everything on the modem setup: Receive and Send Cables hooked up, Cat 5 hooked to Computer, Power plugged, and all the other little things.

This is were I the writer of the manual should be shot. It says that the light on the modem will blink until install is complete. Now by this phrase I thought they meant that the modem connects to their server and downloads the recent updates. Turns out nope, just blinks until you finish install. There went five hours of waiting...
Oh well at least my sims were able to by a new house and send their oldest to college...

First you have to ping the modem (192.168.0.1) ping works fine... Then you log into the modem like you would change the settings on a router. Nice little web interface. Go to register and get an error. Check manual says try nine more times before calling India. Nine more times go by still same error. So its off to India I go...

Direcway phone support SUCKS. Amusingly enough the install manual doesn't have the tech support phone number. Nor does the help file stored on the modem. You have to remember I don't have an Internet connection. I can't Google anything. Luckily I found it in an email I had. Onsite storage, the only reason to use Pop3 on your Gmail account...

So back to automation hell. Their automation even dumps you at the DirectTV help line if you press the wrong button. DirectTV doesn't know anything about Direcway Satellite Internet. It's weird and I didn't even bother to try to figure out why it does so.
After a hour on hold I finally get a level one tech, “My names Aira but you can call me Christina if you are more comfortable with that”.

Long story short I'm on the phone for two and nothing gets resolved. I get bumped up to level 2 support but they are on the east coast and go 9-5.

The morning shift tech (my dad) handles level 2. Takes even longer to get level 2, apparently Direcway has a bunch of problems? Manual settings are adjusted and the modem can ping the satellite but it is discovered that because the SOFTWARE isn't up-to-date (1.23.44 should be 1.23.45 or something to that extent). Now it's only the registration server that's throwing the hissy, the modem and the satellite are having a gay ol time chatting it up.
The obvious solution is root the box and MAKE it download the update or go to a WIFI spot and download the update and install it like a router update or SSH into the box and do it themselves or even through a bloody floppy. But NO they can't do that, they have to send us A WHOLE NEW FREAKIN' MODEM! This will then take till Friday at the most says the tech.
Needless to say I get chewed out because of Direcway's ineptness.
Thursday rolls by no Internet, Fed-ex drop-off time goes by, no box. Call them up again, after talking to sales find out they have NOT EVEN SENT THE MODEM and to expect it Friday OF NEXT WEEK! Sales person promptly had a Tyson performed on them.

So we are now back in Seattle and have the office up and working smoothly... Comcast has no problems, Vonage has no problems, and Direcway sucks.
Did I mention Direcway Sucks Cause It does...

Whiny Mode ON!!!

I have have found the worlds most annyoing instructor. And to compound that I found her on the same day I found the most annoying observer (kid who gets to sit in the back). I don't remember his name but his nickname suits him. "Giggles" This should need no more explanation. Suffice to say he giggled like a little girl EVERY time the instructor nitpicked me for Every little thing. She also got in on the laughing at some points which REALLY pissed me off.

It was like some vicious cycle. Nitpicking made mer nervous. Nervousness Made memake more little mistakes. Which gave her more nitpicks.

To top it all off I got rear ended by a clown car full of people.
We were coming down a hill with a parking lot thing on the right, at the bottom of the hill. The car in front of us turns into there going about a mile an hour. So obviouslly I have to brake. Rather hard since we were somewhat close. Luckily we didn't hit them. Then about two seconds later the second clown car hit us.
So then we got out and exchanged info and went on our way.

Driver's Ed...

So I just started my second week of drivers Ed... Its Interesting. A couple kids are in love with their own voice. The rest are apparently afraid of silence. It worries me that some of them might get a license.

I'm doing fine learning stuff. Some of their tests are worded weirdly which is annoying.

It might just be a CD Player... But I'll be danmed it it isn't pretty...

I like the idea of mixing leather, wood, and laptops but... Bring back the bloody nubbins! Why must we still deal with the stupid touchpads that never work! Can't seem to find a picture of a nubbin... Google only brings up random pictures of a gal trying to hum a guy... Needless to say it looks like a eraser head stuck between the G/H or F/G keys. Works great for games to, RTS anyway never got into FPS when I used that laptop.

My Bet is tate is going to bite it once they kill off the ghost's hime. I'm almost certain its some sort of physic power of shiho/hime illusion power/astral projection. Every time it pops up shiho got ticked at mai. Also shiho was usually asleep when this happens. Or at least presumed to be sleeping. And the fact that the specter wants Mai only.

I just wonder if mai will be sane again when Tate Dies. If not she's so going on another rampage.

So I finally got my New PC hooked up. Its working except for heavy static coming from the sound card and the bios reading my hard drives and Cd player as IDE devices...

So First Off the Hard Drive And The CD Player.
I have the hard drives connected to sata ports 1 and 3 and the player to 2. I tried switching the the CD to number 3 but no difference. BIOS says their all IDE drives. Tried going through Bios settings pertaining to IDE and Sata drives and couldn't get anything.

As for the Sound card...
When my headphones are plugged in I get some pretty heavy static. The volume of the static doesn't change if I turn the volume up or down. I can just barely make out game music when playing a music file.

So I'd Rather be trying out the new Expansion pack but its glitchy.
I can build fine but within a minute of playing in live mode it freezes. Annoying because it was working fine before the expansion. I'll try and figure out whats up later.

I haven't mentioned Sub-Motive Or Leland Dent lately. They're both still cool.

The Story...

A George Rogers Clark High School junior arrested Tuesday for making terrorist threats told LEX 18 News Thursday that the "writings" that got him arrested are being taken out of context.

Winchester police say William Poole, 18, was taken into custody Tuesday morning. Investigators say they discovered materials at Poole's home that outline possible acts of violence aimed at students, teachers, and police.

Poole told LEX 18 that the whole incident is a big misunderstanding. He claims that what his grandparents found in his journal and turned into police was a short story he wrote for English class.

"My story is based on fiction," said Poole, who faces a second-degree felony terrorist threatening charge. "It's a fake story. I made it up. I've been working on one of my short stories, (and) the short story they found was about zombies. Yes, it did say a high school. It was about a high school over ran by zombies."

Even so, police say the nature of the story makes it a felony. "Anytime you make any threat or possess matter involving a school or function it's a felony in the state of Kentucky," said Winchester Police detective Steven Caudill.

Poole disputes that he was threatening anyone.

"It didn't mention nobody who lives in Clark County, didn't mention (George Rogers Clark High School), didn't mention no principal or cops, nothing,"
said Poole. "Half the people at high school know me. They know I'm not that stupid, that crazy."

On Thursday, a judge raised Poole's bond from one to five thousand dollars after prosecutors requested it, citing the seriousness of the charge.

Poole is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

So I finally finished reading Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn Series of six books. Really Bloody Good. My only complaint is that he wimps out on the ending.

Also slowly reading through Pretty Face. It reminds me of Ranma 1/2 for some reason. Currently on chapter 34 so I cant comment on anything after that yet.

Well That's All for Tonight, I plan on trying the AudioBlogger Service out at some point. Maybe I'll Vocalize This Post If I Get Bored Tonight...
